Match Day ONE: 7th March 2020

Match Day TWO:  18th March 2022

Youth Inclusion organised two rounds of fixtures for the EFDN Community Champion League which consisted of 6 teams recruited from the Chelsea Foundation Kicks programme. Players attending came from CFCF community sessions in the Wandsworth and Kensington & Chelsea catchment areas.

The two matchdays were held at Westway Sports Centre on 7th March 2020 and 18th March 2022 and organised as round robin mini leagues. Each team played each other once with bonus points awarded by coaches and match officials for sportsmanship and social action. The matches were very competitive, and the teams demonstrated excellent examples of social action and fair play including shaking hands after each match, setting up the pitches and helping to clear up the venue.

Well done to the teams from Ashburton Youth Club and Alton Estate for finishing in the top two places. Ashburton manged to get top spot by just three points thanks to their fantastic social action efforts. Alton Estate lost only one match over the two match days which was an amazing achievement.

Although Hazelwood finished bottom of the table, it was their first involvement in a tournament which was an achievement in itself. Hopefully they will be able to build on this and participate in more events in the future.

There were a few one-sided games included Ashburton Youth Club v Sands Ends Youth Club which saw Ashburton win comfortably 6-1. However, that didn’t dampen the spirits of the Sands End players who more than made up for the defeat as they gained bonus points by providing refreshments for their opponents.

Well played to all the teams that participated and for showing great commitment by attending both match day events.
